Muirsical Hit-Lists: Introduction

I hate lists.
Well, actually that's not quite true. I hate 'to do' lists.
They just remind you of things you have, well, to do (funnily enough).
Or should have done months ago.
But there are other lists. And we've all done them, or have them in our heads...

Welcome to the Muirsical Hit-Lists, including:

'Six of the Best', my favourite half dozen songs (covered within their own article).

And then there's their musical nemesis, 'Six of the Worst'.
The latter is not so much an 'Anti-List' as the 'Anti-Christ almighty if I ever hear that song again it will be too bloody soon' list.
And, let's be honest, we've all got one of those lists...

'Favourite Vocalists' (another short list of six, but there are plenty more).
But why vocalists, and not favourite guitar players or the best ever solos to air guitar to, or best drummers, or keyboard players, etc?
Because, for me, the most powerful musical instrument that can make the most emotional impact is the voice, and I'll take an average song carried by a brilliant singer over a brilliant song delivered by an average singer any day of the week.

'Favourite Album' and 'Favourite Concert' lists which, by their very nature, are subject to change and of course later (if you are anything like me), when in conversation with like-minded music fans, musicians, or friends discussing such musical highlights - especially 'classic' or favourite albums - you kick yourself for the ones that absolutely, positively, should have been in there. But aren't.

And, finally, associated with the above, the 'Yearly' Lists - favourite albums and concerts from the current year, along with favourites from the previous year.

This isn't just a list for lists sake section, though, I'd like to hear from and see similar lists from FabricationsHQ readers, friends, and musical acquaintances to see what rocks your world - and why.
And, with permission of course, I'll put the best ones up here from time to time.

Don't forget though that these lists are based on personal favourites, not what someone believes to be the 'best buys' out there...

For example, what you believe to be the greatest movie ever made (as regards impact, influence and critical acclaim) may be totally different from your favourite movie. Mine? 'Dances With Wolves', Director's Extended Edition, now that you ask.

Anyway, get writing/ typing. You've been meaning 'to do' that list for months now...
