SAHBROCK 13 Rools, OK?
"Good evening, boys and girls...”
…and welcome to the thirteenth instalment of SAHBROCK, the charity event that started from small, Sensational Alex Harvey Band fan-driven beginnings to a full blown event that is not just a respected and noted part of Glasgow’s live events calendar, but has to date raised more than £45,000 for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
SAHBROCK 13 will take place at Ivory Blacks in Glasgow city centre on Saturday 6th November, 6pm 'til late.
With Covid restrictions starting to lift on indoor, club sized events SAHBROCK 13 is back after a one year lockdown hiatus, but that didn’t stop passionate event organiser and uber-SAHB fan James "Hoggy" Hogg raising a remarkable £7000 in 2020 via the sale of SAHB related face coverings, SAHB merch and holding auctions of fan memorabilia.
It’s also a charity that’s close to Hoggy’s heart (and countless thousands across the city) as James relates: "There can’t be many folks in Glasgow who haven’t either used the services of the Children’s Hospital or know friends and family who have had a reason to; my daughter has attended the hospital for her eczema and my wife was only 2lbs 13oz when she was born – without expert treatment, she probably wouldn’t be here today."
Additionally, through the efforts of Hoggy and his team, money raised from an earlier event (that went to The Alex Harvey Memorial Fund), helped realise the bust, bench and tree planted in The People's Palace in Glasgow in memory of the great Alex Harvey.

As the event poster confirms, this year’s event features four bands – The Sellout (a tribute to The Who), Fastlayne, Fire Exit and featured act, The Sensational Alex Harvey Experience, one of Scotland’s finest tribute bands ("the best SAHB tribute by far" - Zal Cleminson) and a group Alex Harvey Jr (another champion of SAHBROCK) reckons his dad "would approve" of.
It’s not just about the live music; there will be an auction for SAHB related items, a raffle and T-Shirts.
It’s also hoped there will be a limited edition souvenir SAHBROCK programme.
While it may be a Glasgow gig supporting a Glasgow charity, the event has garnered such attention through it’s friendly, fund (and fun) raising achievements and annual (when not in Lockdown) nod to one of Scotland’s greatest ever rock bands (and one of the world’s most individualistic rock acts) that fans come from all over the world to attend, as do various ex-SAHB alumni, including Zal Cleminson, who has played the event not once, but twice.
